Directions
- Add 2 tbsp of vegetable oil and up to 1/2 cup of popcorn kernels to the pan.
- Cut 2 tbsp of room-temperature butter into small slices and lay them over the vents in the lid to melt down as it pops.
- Run the POP setting until pops are about 3 seconds apart, 5–8 minutes, then turn off.
- Sift out any unpopped kernels, pour into a bowl, and toss with the melted butter and salt while warm.
Variants & Notes
- Keep butter on the lid only — it scorches on the hot cooking plate.
- Use a high-smoke-point oil (canola, vegetable, grapeseed, peanut, refined coconut or avocado); skip extra-virgin olive oil.
- Season while warm so it sticks. Try kettle corn (sugar + salt), Chicago-style (caramel + cheddar), or cinnamon sugar.
